Blenheim Palace is a monumental country house situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England. It is the only non-royal non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace. It was built between 1705 and circa 1722. Its construction was originally intended to be a gift to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, from a grateful nation in return for military triumph against the French and Bavarians at the Battle of Blenheim. However, it soon became the subject of political infighting, which led to Marlborough’s exile, the fall from power of his duchess, and irreparable damage to the reputation of the architect Sir John Vanbrugh.
Designed in the rare, and short-lived, English Baroque style, architectural appreciation of the palace is as divided today as it was in the 1720s. It is unique in its combined usage as a family home, mausoleum and national monument. The palace is also notable as the birthplace and ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill.
The building of the palace was a minefield of political intrigue by Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. Following the palace’s completion, it became the home of the Churchill family for the next 300 years and various members of the family have in … Read More

In reality the bathroom home improvement is easily the best place to start you renovation work as you can accomplish quite a transformation with a little imagination, a splash of flair and, of course, a few basic building skills. If you are interested in upgrading your bathroom, but really don’t know where to start, do some research so you can consider the options that are open to you.
The quality of one’s home can be greatly improved by simple things such as small bathroom remodeling. One thing to consider is that it is not nearly as costly to remodel a small bathroom as it is to remodel a large one. It is also easier to redecorate a smaller bathroom, however, care must still be taken to complete the project competently. It takes a little of both time and money, but the results are well worth it.
One thing that is very important when a person is considering the remodeling or redecoration of a small bathroom, and that is lighting. The bathroom is typically the first room one heads to upon arising, and the last one he or she visits before retiring. It is also a place where most people conduct their personal hygiene such as shaving, brushing one’s hair, or applying make-up. These and many other factors make lighting a very important aspect when remodeling the bathroom. Lighting in a smaller sized bathroom can easily appear dreary and one must make sure that whichever type of lighting fixture he or she chooses, will be capable of creating the brightest light possible.
Sometimes bathroom lights can be implemented in … Read More
As a remodeling contractor, I have worked for clients with budgets from twenty five hundred to over seventy five thousand dollars for a single bathroom. While a coat of paint and some new accessories will certainly spruce up most bathrooms, getting maximum impact and resale value will often involve quite a bit more work. The final bathroom design will be determined by your motive for remodeling, the size of the bathroom and your budget. If you plan to do any of the work yourself, your skill level should also be taken into consideration.
There are two reasons to remodel a bathroom. Reason one: The room is extremely dated and/or you are trying to sell the home. Reason two: A leak is causing damage to other parts of the house. Face it, if you are going to the trouble to rip out everything to repair a leaky shower, you might as well take the opportunity to remodel the whole thing. Sometimes, it’s even cheaper.
What’s more important; the budget or the design? If it’s the budget, then your wish list will have to be trimmed to fit. Whirlpool tubs, designer toilets and high end showers will likely get the axe. Refinishing … Read More
